Simply Wonderful Jan 02
Happy 2008 to everyone! We spent our New Year's Eve with some of our closest friends, and although we did not do anything crazy, I think it was one of my most favorite simple New Year's Eves. The reason I say simple is because I've had other really fun and memorable ones in the past but they were ones that took more planning, more driving, etc. This one was just simply making dinner and playing games and shooting fireworks, which by the way was the highlight of my night (little things like sparklers excite me).
As we sat at dinner, one of my friends said: "This is different..." Different because there were no little ones running around, climbing up the legs, wanting to be held. The girls played cards for a couple of hours (if you have never played Pit, play it!!!) while the guys disappeared upstairs to play ping pong and Wii. By the time the guys emerged from their games, it was around 11 p.m., definitely past my bedtime and I was becoming quite delirious, as were a few others in our group. We sat around and laughed over nothing that funny (those are the best laughs) and tried to play a game while waiting for midnight to strike. Midnight struck and the fireworks begun...
Anyways...as mentioned before, it was simple, but lots of fun. Although I don't believe in resolutions (it overwhelms to make goals for myself...), I do have a few items on my list for 2008 that I begun to do before the new year begun (again, it would overwhelm to think that I had to start on January 1st, so I started before as to make myself think that they were not "New Year Resolutions"). Two of those items include decluttering my house and waking up earlier~I crave a little quiet time in the morning before everyone wakes up. I'm doing quite well on both of those thus far. I have a few other things I'd like to accomplish this year, one that I have to accomplish so I can keep my teaching license~taking an online class (awful!).
And, although I do not know what this new year holds, I do know the One Who holds this year, and for that I am so very thankful. Happy New Year!

I'm glad you were able to find at least one outdoor picture that Nathan wasn't in! I think they all came out really well. And I agree.. I think this New Year's was really nice. The planning is fun too, but this year this was perfect.
Yes, Angie~your husband managed to get in a lot of them and do that very consistent pose too. :)
Laurin, I really liked this happy little post. I think it was a great New Year's too. I couldn't think of a way I'd rather spend it than the way we did. One of my favorite parts of the night was when we were playing Pit and being SO loud, and Jeff comes in holding up two fingers and goes, "Two, two, two sleeping kids." The fireworks were great also (although I got choked on the sparkler smoke). It was way past my bedtime as well, but I think I was hyped up on coffee. Anyway, it was lots of fun. :-)
i would have to agree, i thought it was a great night!
