How did she know? Jan 06

Before I answer the above question, I'm going let you know that I know my baby is not all the time perfect in her sleeping habits. For example, nap times have been a bit too much of fun times for Savannah lately. Many days when I put her in her bed for the morning and afternoon naps, she immediately rolls over on her tummy, sits up, and then stands up in the bed. She'll usually hold this position for anywhere from 10-60 minutes (90 has been the longest), "shaking" the bed, "talking" to herself, and doing whatever. She'll take intervals of sitting down and playing with her blanket, the polka dot sheets, just whatever captivates her. At first, I'd go in there every 20 minutes or so and say: "Savannah, it is nap time." and lay her back down. I stopped that when I realized how much she loved me coming in there, partaking in the fun time with her~her eyes would light up, she'd really start talking, and she'd move her head from side to side as if to communicate with me: "Yay, Mommy is here too now! This will be oh so much fun!!!" Anways, so all this usually happens in the afternoon, followed by her finally crashing down and crashing to sleep.

How did she know? Well, another one of Savannah's most consistent sleep traits is that she wakes up basically at the same time every morning, or around about that time...usually between 6:15 and 7 a.m.~no matter what time she goes to bed. I have a rule on this though that I never get her until 7 a.m. (another rule, hence my letting her stay in bed doing whatever during nap time is she must have "nap" time for 1 1/2 hours, each time...she easily surpasses this though and even on her "play days in bed" will sleep 2-3 hours for a nap). And, once again like naptime, she just stays in bed and plays until she sees my face and she almost jumps out at me to greet me. Anyways on Friday night I went to bed with a very sick headache and a sore throat. I thought what I always think on Friday nights: "Oh, if only Savannah would realize tomorrow is Saturday and she'll sleep in, at least until 7:30...." Well, she figured it out on that morning! I woke up and looked at the clock and it was 7:45...then it was 8:00...then 8:15. How wonderful. At this point I started to hear her little noises. Finally, by 8:30, I couldn't stand it any longer and went in there to get her. She did this all again this morning, failing to be my Sunday morning alarm clock, making it a bit of rush for all of us to get out of the house by 8:50 to get to church at 9:00.

Although I'm not counting on this to become a morning routine, it was definitely nice these past 2 mornings. Good Night.

Jack's Mommy Jan 07

Laurin, I found myself smiling as I was reading this post. I could just picture Savannah contently hanging out in her crib and playing and talking. I love the pics; she looks so happy. Hopefully she will start sleeping later so maybe you won't have to get up too much earlier to have your quiet time like you said in your un-New Year's resolution. Hope you have a great week!
