Sewing Endeavors Jan 09

Well, I am once again trying my hand(s) at sewing. My last endeavor took place a couple of months after Savannah was born, so in May, and did not truly finish until July. I've posted a picture of the dress. I was so proud of myself, even though I had A LOT of help.

Much time has passed and I think I'm ready again. Every time I enter a fabric store, it truly inspires me. Furthermore, every time I see the clothes my friends Angie and Julie do for their girls, I am so overwhelmed by the urge to sew, I can barely stand it. So today, guided by those two, we picked out some very cute material (pictured) and are going to make pants, and hopefully shorts (out of monkey material, not pictured). Unfortunately, Julie's sewing machine was not faithful this day so we just cut out the material. More sewing times to come later.

In addition to the pants and shorts I'm planning on "conquering", I want to continue to learn to smock (Mrs. Boeving???). We shall see how and if all these endeavors transpire...

I love to sew and smock. I could spend all of our money in a fabric store. Can't wait to see the finished product!

Laurin, you may need to give me some sewing lessons! By the way, a few posts back, you talked about Mrs. Thompson. Could this possibly be Jerri Thompson? If so, I teach with her now!

I am also getting in the sewing spirit. I am attempting to make a new shower curtain for our bathroom and silk curtains for our dining room. We'll see how that goes. Also, I am starting smocking lessons soon. Parker got them for me for Christmas. It could all be pretty scary.

I love to smock (when I have time). I smocked Sarah Ann's easter dress last year, but then John's grandmother put it together for me. I now have a sewing machine that is collecting dust because I haven' had the chance to get in there and do something. We should get a sewing group together!
