Babies, Breadman, & Crock-Pots Apr 21

Our weekend with the Dawkins was wonderful. No tears were shed on my part nor Savannah's from our being away from each other overnight (two to be exact) for the the first time ever, which made the trip even more wonderful weekend.

I'll start with the crock-pot: Laura totally inspired me to get mine out and start using it. I'm scared to leave it on during the day if I'm not here, but she assured that all would be fine. I took about an hour of our Saturday to copy down recipes distinctly to be used with the crock-pot which I'm thinking if they turn out good, I'll share on the blog. So, Laura, if our house burns down because of that thing, I may be a bit upset with you.

On to the Breadman: It's the name of the bread-maker the Dawkins have and we are totally getting one. Bread was a very frequent conversation topic (in general, food seemed to be also...I never realized how much David loves food...good thing he married an excellent cook.) thoughout the weekend as we devoured two loves of the delicious delicacy. Isn't it just the most wonderful thing to have homemade bread? I very much think so and that is why we are very much getting one. Some of my readers may just be recipitents of our endeavors if I get the hang of that machine.

And, finally babies. I don't know if I convinced the Dawkins that the big closet in their den could definitely be transformed into a baby's room in the near future, though I'm sure they were convinced that I was totally going to have a baby by the end of our 2 mile walk to see rare wild flowers throughout a very lovely park in Louisville. No baby nor a sight of wildflowers by the end of the walk.

I failed to mention that I felt like I stayed in a very chicly decorated bed and breakfast in staying with David and Laura, I found a treasure of a baby gown at Margaret's Consigment Shop on Frankfurt Street~a street that also housed the coffee shop where I very gracefully dropped my very much wanted decaf cup of coffee all over the floor (I wanted to cry but Laura was laughing so I supressed it), a wondeful Italian meal by the river, a morning seranade by the four of us of a beloved children's hymn (though the name of the song slips my mind) over a breakfast of home-made cinnamon biscuits (I'm telling you the truth~you go visit the Dawins and you eat exceptionally well!), and precious fellowship with our dear friends the Dawkins. Oh, and we went to see Juno at the $1 theater...I cried like a baby during it and highly recommend it to all though I'm sure most have already seen it (we don't really go to the movies and just use Netflix unless it's a special occasion and a baby-sitter has been gotten...whatever "gotten" means). LOVED it but would not want my teenager to see it.

I'll close by giving all those who know the Dawkins the invitation from Laura that all familiar faces are welcome to their home...and by saying that Charley was much more excited to see us than Savannah.

p.s. I'm posting this very random side view picture of us because it shows those of you who have asked to see a picture of me preggy...I really do not like any "posed" pictures of me that I've taken so far. I'm quite astonished at how big I am and have finally grasped the reality that cuteness and pregnancy are not meant to be a part of me. I'm leaving that to Kacie Wright Miller!

Laurin, what are you talking about? The first thing I thought of when I saw that picture was how cute you look. For me, I don't know if cuteness goes along with 104 temperatures without air conditioning. I'll let you know.

Laurin, you DO look cute! but if it makes you feel any better, I'm right there with you on not feeling very cute! I try very hard to just look at my face in the mirror, but of course, even that sometimes scares me. Just think, we only have a few weeks to go and we can rejoice in the cuteness that is now inside our bellies =)
