Idol Thoughts Apr 29
So I'm obviously never good at predicting what's going to happen with Idol, but I just have to share what my thoughts are from tonight.
- The guys: I'm going to clump them together not because they deserve that but because I really think they all did fabulous on both songs. I totally disagreed with the judges about Jason's first and I loved it! Same for David A. And, yes, I must admit David C. did great on both songs...still don't care for him though.
- Brooke: Oh, her first song was very painful to me...her second, lovely. For some reason I'm nervous for her though.
- Syesha: First off, wear some shoes, girl! That really bothered me. But, I think she did great. And she's growing on me. Wonder if she will go home. I also wonder why people don't like her. To me, she seems so likable but she's been so close to going home for so many weeks it seems
- Paula: Okay, tonight proved that she really is crazy. I thought Ryan was going to have to cut to a commerical as she was going into how bad Jason did on his second song, which had not even been sung yet. What in the world??? And then, I really think she called Syesha Brooke. Did anyone catch that or did I misunderstand over the loudness of the ball popper that Savannah was playing with the entire hour of American Idol?
Not going to say who I think is going home because I'm not good at that....

Okay, I don't know if this is appropriate to say here, but I think Paula Abdul must have a substance abuse problem! I seriously couldn't believe she was criticizing Jason's second song that he hadn't sung yet. It really makes you wonder, though, about some of her comments--whether she is giving genuine feedback or if she just has some buzz phrases that she uses. I did appreciate that Randy and even Simon tried to bail her out and minimize her mistake. She really needs help.
I too liked Jason's first song. I did not like Brooke's first song. I thought Sayesha did very well, but I think she will be going home. Here's my top four in order of preference: David A., Brooke, Jason, David C.
Your Idol posts have been so good. You should think about posting a link on this site: http://boomama.net/ if you want to. She does an Idol post every week and people link their posts to hers.
I totally agree with you about last night's performances. Jason is my favorite b/c I really like his style and I did think he did better than they gave him credit for. I, too, agree that Paula needs some serious help. I totally thought she said Brooke when talking to Syesha! I thought maybe I didn't hear her right, and Josh said that he wasn't paying attention so now I am thinking she did. Oh, and VERY sweet picture of Savannah :)
Girls, thanks for the comments! Brandi~I was going to say the same thing a/b Paula and substance abuse. I had heard that she had, at one point, been very sick with some sort of illness so I'm wondering if maybe some meds have made her a bit loopy and she's possibly even abusing them currently. I've always thought she was "off" even though I really like her and think she's down to earth. And, your top four is my top four!
Annie~so glad I'm not the only who thought that. Aaron wasn't home when I was watching it so I couldn't get an immediate second opinion.
All that to say, I really had this thought: Paula's mistake last night could potentially be a mistake for her career on A I, don't you think? Just so much media coverage and supposedly ppl put a lot of emphasis on the judges' opinions and it could be said that Paula got America confused last night and put something in their heads that they couldn't get out, thus hurting Jason's vote. Maybe I'm over analyzing...
Laurin, I've been waiting for your reaction, but I'm heading to bed, so I'll go ahead and post mine. I wasn't surprised, but I was so sad for Brooke! I thought the breakdown at the end was just terrible! I would do the same, so I hurt for her.
As for Jason, I think the Paula catastrophe kept him in the top three. I hadn't realized that there was so much buzz about it until Ryan addressed it during the show. It just might be an all guy top 3 this year.
And to Paula's credit, she probably looked the most understated, classic, and put together than she has all season. I guess that was planned, but still, she looked nice.
