One Less Key Aug 07
My keychain is getting lighter and lighter. A few weeks ago I took off the house key...for good. The day before yesterday I took off the key to my faithful Saturn...for good. That particular removal was not nearly as bittersweet as the former, yet such memories have been invested in that car over the past 10 years.
My parents surprised me with that car at a varsity football game in high school about a year after I had totaled my first car...they made me wait a long time, didn't they? It was the car I traveled back and forth in from Clinton, MS to Memphis and back time after time to see Aaron. It was even the car that we were in when I figured out Aaron was about to ask me to marry him and I kept on thinking: Is he going to get on his knees in this very small space???? He didn't because it stopped raining (that's another blog entry).
And now that Saturn is gone. After 10 years. I haven't actually been driving it the past 4 years but still, it will always be my Saturn. No, we're not replacing it with something bigger and better. We're actually giving in that green Saturn to be more green I suppose. Or really to be more simple. We're going to try to make it with having just one car in L-ville. Not sure how that's going to work out, but we shall see.
Yes, that's about all of an ode that Saturn will get.

Many fond memories of that car. It will be greatly missed.
wow! that car lasted you a long time. I'll never forget seeing my sunfire drive away (we sold it a few years ago).... i remember the night you got that car! good times, good times
You can make it with just one car! Mark and I only had one for at least half of the time we've been married.
Laurin,
Amanda passed this particular blog onto me. I felt the SAME way when I got rid of "suzy saturn." I actually teared up! What a sweet blog. I know its just a car, but I can understand all the memories that came with it.
I enjoyed reading this.
