After a week Reflection Aug 22

  • I cried when I pulled out a plastic grocery bag from the holder thing and it was a bag that I had gotten at the Highpoint Grocery in Memphis.
  • I cried when I got an invitation via email to a jewelry party from a friend...in Memphis.
  • I've gotten lost twice when I was walking with the girls in the neighborhood.
  • I have not gone out to eat for lunch once this week. This is a big deal for me...I don't know where the Chic-fil-a is.
  • When I looked at the clock the other day and it said 4:00, I did not cry but I definitely held back tears.  I knew it was 3:00 in Memphis and I thought of the teachers and students at my old school...sure, I wasn't even going back to teach this year but it was sad to me even still that I could not travel the short 7 minute drive to easily see everyone there.

Conclusion of the matter~We've only been here a week. That's what I keep telling myself.  I know it will get better and really, it's been a good week considering all the changes that are taking place with us.  If I did not miss Memphis I would be not right with so many precious family and friends there.  And I'm realizing it's okay to be sad just not to let it consume me, and thankfully, it's not.

  • The Dawkins are here~3 of them to be exact (Lisa is here too!).
  • I really like our neighborhood and neighbors are super nice.  Walks are just about as nice here as they were in Highpoint.
  • Though the house is no where near where I want it to be as far as decor goes, I think, in the end, it's going to be a great house for us.  (Julie, you know me...I'm not going to post pics until things are at least a bit more "picture-esque".  However, I would gladly welcome you to come see it for yourself in the meantime : ) )
  • Target is very close by as is the Neighborhood Wal-Mart.  Now I have never been a Wal-Mart fan but this one is never busy which is fantastic and it's just a grocery store...I've already been three times!
  • I found a few consignment sales going on this weekend...I LOVE a good consignment sale.
  • I actually have fun driving in an unknown place...have not even gotten lost yet. Granted, the farthest distance I've gone in a car by myself is about 3 miles.
  • They have Panera Bread here!  Yummy!
  • One of the neighbor kids told me today it snowed here last winter.  She said it hadn't done that in a long time.  However, I do believe Louisville actually has seasons.
  • And, last but not least, I have much more time to blog.  Or rather I'm much more inspired to blog seeing how most of the people that read this are the ones that I used to see at least once a week.
Conclusion of the matter:  Louisville, I do believe, is going to be okay for us.  Sure, it's going to take time, but again, in the meantime, come visit us!

It will get better. After two months I still choke up about Colorado. I left a piece of my heart there. Les and I both are home sick for the mountains. We are having to trust the Lord daily. It's a wonderful place to be to trust a sovereign God.

hey maybe we'll come up for that mini marathon also! it'll be a nice prep for the chicago marathon in oct 09. (i will attempt this in celebration of my 30th birthday in sept. 09!) i miss you lots, but i know you will begin to find connections there. i remember you telling me that your dad reminded you (when you left for college maybe?) that it's ok if you never "replace" the kinds of friends you had in memphis. you find new friends, but those close friends with whom you have so much history are always one of a kind. i am sooo nostalgic about things and even when i know i'd rather be in my present place, i still miss and feel endeared toward past places. even when i drive over to the neighborhood we lived in when we first got married, i get emotional! and although i started out missing a lot about memphis while we lived in houston, now that i'm back in memphis, i still think about houston and walking to whole foods and having saturday night church and walking around memorial park, etc.

It really will get better. I'm on the opposite end now. Louisville has become our home after 2 years and now that we are moving to Texas next week, I keep thinking about all of the things about Louisville I am going to miss. I have grown to LOVE the weather and seasons here. I wish I was going to be here longer we would definitely do lunch. (btw...It sounds like you are in St. Matthews so the closest Chik-Fil-A's are the one in the St. Matthew's mall and one over in Indiana - maybe that will make this week a little easier)

I'm sure things will get better soon...finding your closest chick-fil-A thing will have to be a must!! We've decided to go private on our blog...could you email me at wrenerin@gmail.com so that I can put you on my invited readers list? Thanks friend

Hey Laurin, here's something else you can add to your "thankful" list: be thankful that people in your new town actually speak English!! I think that is going to be the hardest thing for me. But it helps a little knowing that you are right where God wants you, huh? I'm praying for y'all and I enjoy your blog!
